National Eisteddfod Chair, Cardiff, 2018
Working with the National Museum of Wales I design and made the National Eisteddfod Chair for the 2018 ceremony in Cardiff.
It is made from locally sourced ash and elm and the Welsh 'Carthen' pattern and text was co2 laser engraved into the wood. The pattern draws from a Welsh blanket that is in the collection of the museum.
The chair was commissioned by ST Fagans National Museum of History, Wales and was gifted to the winner of the Eisteddfod for that year.
International Year of Astronomy 2009
Working with The Herschel Museum, Bath I made a sculpture inspired by the Edwardian Orrery that is in the museums collection.
The Herschel Orrery is a model of the solar system as it was understood at the time of manufacture. My work continued the story of discovery and depicted the solar system including all that has been discovered up until the date of its creation in 2009.
Mottisfont Abbey, National Trust, England
This temporary outdoor sculpture was a celebration of the mathematical landscape of geometry in relation to gravity. It depicts the gravitational distortion of a star on the flat plane of the universe.
This theoretical form invites intrigue and enquiry. It is set against the natural landscape of the abbeys grounds.
Science Museum, Wonderlab, London 2016
This commission of highly decorated puzzles was designed and made for the Wonderlab interactive exhibition at The Science Museum, London.
The five puzzles were made from beech and were decorated with colour and co2 laser engraved decals.
